What is Reiki Therapy?
Reiki is the ancient art of energy healing using specific techniques. It is pronounced ‘ray-key’.
Reiki is an alternative or “complementary” therapy that is popular all across the world. Reiki is thought to have originally developed from Japan, though some believe it originates from ancient Tibetan Buddhist practice.
In this technique, the Reiki healer uses 'universal energy' or ‘Qi’ (pronounced “Chi’) and transfers this energy through their hands or palms to the recipient for physical or emotional healing. It is said that when someone has a physical or emotional injury, the energy in their body is stuck in that area. When the energy is stuck and cannot release, it can cause adverse effects and illnesses. Reiki healers work to try and move that blocked energy.
Reiki healers work with the chakra energy system to re-balance the energy channels in the body, to enable greater physical and emotional harmony in the recipient. Reiki healing is a process.
Claire works with her clients intuitively to direct the energy to the places in the physical and emotional body where it is most needed.
What is involved in a Reiki treatment?
On your first visit Claire will ask you about your general health and medical history. Claire will ask you about what you hope to achieve from receiving reiki and discuss your treatment plan with you.
Claire will do her very best to have you feeling totally at ease and relaxed for your session, in the comfort of the tranquil Bright Heart Holistics treatment room. You will be treated to the sounds of relaxing music and the calming aromas of organic essential oils during your session.
You will remain clothed throughout, though you will be asked to take your shoes and coat off. You will be asked to lie down for the session. You can have your eyes open or closed; some people even nod off during their treatment, which is absolutely fine and totally normal (don’t be embarrassed - Claire is used to snoring!) You may prefer to come in your comfies so that you can have a truly relaxing experience.
During the session, Claire will put her hands on or a few inches above your body, moving along the body and sometimes focusing on particular areas of the body, where needed. You might feel a tingling sensation, a deep relaxation, or warmth or coolness throughout your body. Or, you might not feel anything at all, but don’t worry as this doesn’t mean the treatment isn’t working – each individual is different!
A session typically lasts for 1 hour (including pre- and post-treatment consultation), though if this is your first session, please allow 1 hour and 15 minutes for additional consultation time.
Claire will be happy to answer any questions and adapt the treatment to your preferences where possible.
For those who are not local and who cannot visit our treatment space in person, Claire is able to offer ‘distance’ Reiki healing via a Proxy.
